ACE and Tufts Tennis Partner to Deliver Free Tennis to Kids
February 17, 2025, Tisch Athletic Center at Tufts University
Maybe it was the chance to run around indoors and escape the biting February cold. Or maybe it was a jolt of “February vacation week just started” energy. Either way, the 50+ kids who attended All Court Enrichment’s 2025 Tufts Tennis Clinic came revved up and ready to play.
At ACE, we aim to help kids across Medford, Somerville and Cambridge have fun and get active through tennis. For young people, access to camps, clinics and the like has enormous benefits in both the short and long term. And the more we can break down the barriers that prevent some kids and families from being able to participate in out-of-school programs, the healthier and happier our communities will be.
Tufts players connected with local kids and made this a super fun event
For many of the freshman and sophomores on the Tufts Men’s and Women’s Tennis Teams, group classes and clinics provided valuable opportunities to hone their skills and deepen their passion for the sport. We were thrilled to partner with these talented and welcoming young people on this year’s clinic — over a dozen of them took time during their day off from classes to volunteer with us, helping lead games and drills across a wide range of ages and skill levels.
This is the second time ACE has collaborated with Tufts for this President’s Day event, and both times have been a lot of fun.
“We’d love to make this a yearly event,” said Frank Roche, the Civic Life Administrator for Athletics at Tufts..
As a grand finale, the Tufts players put on an exhibition of their tennis skills that dazzled everyone in attendance.
“How do they do that?” asked one wondrous youth.
ACE hopes to continue to work with Tufts and the Tufts tennis teams to provide more access to tennis for local kids. Based on the success and enjoyment of this event, it seems there is a lot of enthusiasm to do just that. To wit, one youth asked as he was heading out, “:Can we do this again?”
